I don’t keep discus but don’t they require special water parameters?

They typically require warmer water, which I like my tanks around 83* anyhow. Some people fight pH and all that jazz. Stability is much more important than fighting pH. They are more sensitive to nitrates than most fish, but I will be changing 25-30 gallons of water per day to keep pristine water. Wild caught discus would probably matter more, but these are captive bred and will be more used to it.

that delhezi should be called Fabio.

I’ve read that they prefer acidic 4-5ph and like heavily planted tanks. I haven’t kept them myself though.

Yeah, I am thinking the same. Especially given they bichirs are relatively small and there is a lot of space in the tank. There will also be light on the tank at all times with the 24/7+ from Finnex.

When I am ready, I'll harass my LFS. They had an ornate but I was an idiot and misread the numbers as $300 instead of $30.....whoops. I'll get a hold of them here next week and see what is available. They know I am after those 2 species for sure, so I think they'll let me know 1st thing!
Which LFS? While down there I checked out fish gallery and extreme fish and pets. I know fish gallery orders from toyin so if you want an awesome wild caught you can go through them

Aquazoo down in Willis. I went to Extreme fish in China town. A couple weeks ago I know they have some Flagtails, which I think I"ll go pick one up this weekend here and get him growing.

Yeah, that would make sense. There were 20 in the tank when I snagged them. So I got to pick the biggest and most vibrant patterns. They also are hungry little things, eating everything in sight!
