will do,how about now?lol :grinno:

more pics of the side filter.
i put all the separators in.

the top one is plexi with holes drilled in it.

the rest is egg crate/light stuff "or whatever it is". "he used this 30 years ago.most of us were lil fish ourself"

the bottom one has styro on the ends.
guess so it floats just above the bulk "top of the water in the filter"

also,i like how my gramps made the pvc backup overflows incase something clogs. "i do this on some of my filters"
fish and diy sure run in the family :D

now to figure out what to fill 4 sections with.
theres black gravel in the bottom so im guessing he had carbon in one.
guess i gotta get gramps over here to tell me. :D
plan to put
filter fiber
carbon bags
???
???

Please post a pic of how water from the main tank gets in to the side filter.

That looks pretty sweet, and I would think it was pretty much ahead of its time for 30 years ago. How do you to the chambers going down to the filter on the side of the tank? Cleaning and maintaining those could be a big pain.

shouldnt be to bad to clean.
start at the top and go down.
How do you to the chambers
huh?lol

heres where it goes downhill real fast :(
just found this.
thats gravel behind the silicone :(
my gramps used silicone between the glass and the thick corner beads.
thats why it wasnt leaking.
but dang it. :(

ok so this tank has my mind going in circles :nilly:
just went over to where i got the tank "forgot a lid"
so i told him about the silicone problem above.
he said its what my gramps, and others, call an oyster in the glass "a chip"
he said its been there for 20 years,he added more silicone to it 20 years ago also.
he also said the stand was wet cus the side filter clogged and the tank overflowed not long ago.

he said the tank doesnt leak and he would just go ahead and fill it.
im going to have my gramps and dad look at it and give there opinions.
gotta clean it anyways so next pics will be of it cleaned up.

also while i was at his house i asked about the overflow media.
so he gathered it all up for me.
some heavy duty cloth "way better then felt" and some other padding and 2 bags of charcoal he called it.same as carbon?lol
heres pics of it all.
o and my cat said my tank :grinno:
