Awesome flashback thread resurrection.

My filters have been running great on the original media. I'd use the same if I had to do it again. It performs, and stands the test of time.

I just get the 20 sqft floss roll from Big Al's

I bought Poret foam and cut it to fit my filters. I use the 10PPI and 20PPI material and am pleased with it.

I use Poly-fil brand Traditional Batting for fine polishing but only a double thickness.

Any negatives running the pump sideways ? I should have clearance but to make it easy to remove from the stand I may turn it sideways. I'm assuming since eheim makes it adjustable I'm assuming there will be no negatives.

No negatives, I run all 3 of my that way and have for 5-8 years. It makes it so easy to fit under the stand and I also feel that it reduces the possibility of kinking the hoses since it permits a nice arc when installing the hoses up to the tank rim..
