Anybody else grown dwarf banana plants as plant filtration? I have what I believe is a dwarf cavendish, from HD, putting out a massive leaf about once a week but unfortunately it's getting too tall for my window. I didn't do my research first and a dwarf banana is apparently anything under about 12 feet tall. I'll soon be replacing this with a "truly tiny" or "little prince" variety that only grow a couple feet tall. Same situation for my taro, the leaves are all forming too high for the light from my window to reach them so time to replace it.
Any recommendations for other relatively large plants, up to 3' tall, to replace the taro? I'm considering a peace lily or a smaller alocasia. I have three pots on my tank next to a south facing window, one with pothos-which I also may replace eventually as I'd prefer something more upright, one with the banana plant, and one that will house a new plant. The pots are 10" square net pots with hydroton and gravel and about 2" submerged.
I'll post some pics of the current setup but here's one from July.
