As for as their diet you are correct. Protein is the primary preferred diet with Veggies as a balance.
Wood is not a necessity (as for as eating) but they do prefer it to rockwork, and hiding places are preferred.
They can be territorial towards other nocturnal species. So if you wake up in the morning and see some damage the likely culprit will be one of the other plecos.
Not good algae eaters as their preferred diet would suggest.

What size are they and do you just have singles of each species?
Here is a link to the Pseudacanthicus species. It will give you some general info.
These are my preferred species of plecos and Nice pickup.

PICS are required for all new Pickups!

1st Pic is 600
4th Pic is 114
I suppose the time is close enough. These are the pix as of the vendor's place. My tank is still cycling. I intend to have these in my new set-up on 1st DEC 08. Enjoy:

if you want to avoid the brown color from the tannins on the driftwood, soak it in boiling water for an hour or two, rinse, repeat then let it sit and cool. I did that with my driftwood and my tank is crystal clear!

Try a low to the bottom piece. The piece I'm using sits low to the bottom with plenty of room up top, given it's only in a 20g with tetras and such, but there would be plenty of room at the top of a big tank for your speedsters! I'll get pics up sometime if you'd like

I would reboil several times if it is a larger piece. I have an L114 in a tank with an L91 and the 114 is very shy and reclusive. He loves to hide, as do all of my plecs, but I dont have experience with L24 andL25. Please do tell more about this ban!!!!!!!!! Btw NICE FISH!!!

I think the ban is for exportation out of South America (Brazil in particular?). As these are already outside, i think it is OK

Still can't find L114 (settled for L600) ... still looking for L114 i really REALLY like the leopard color/pattern

good luck with your search. We happened to find ours at about 2". It had been hidden in a tank at the lfs for 2 months. My wife and I had been watching him and knew he was there that long. Soooo, long story short, our lfs friend thought it had been ther long enough. $20!!!!!!!!! The cheapest plec we've bought, and one of the nicest!!!

Our LFS do not carry fancy plecos .... i had to import mines ... not cheap at all , but i am sure worth it ...

unfortunately, someone said already that these plecos are not very good cleaners .... i suppose i shoulda done research first :D

No not good cleaners. I have an albino gibbiceps that is my best cleaner. But everything he cleans he poops back out so getting a pleco for that purpose seems a little pointless. You'll have less algae(wich can be beneficial for a tank), but more poop(not beneficial!!).
