I have an L600 and L375 Both pseudacanthicus. And It's great idea to have ahiding places for them. they love to hide. But you can allways use PVC tubes and cut a small portion of the bottom off so they sit on the bottom and won't roll around. I feed some vegitation when I got the L375 but that's what they feed him at the LFS. Now if I put any veg in the tank he won't touch it. He really preferes protein based foods. And My L600 LOVES hikari sinking pellets. They have never yet showed aggression towards each other. and they are both over 9". I want to get at least one more but it's hard to find these guys at a large size for a good price.

Hope that helps.

Our LFS do not carry fancy plecos .... i had to import mines ... not cheap at all , but i am sure worth it ...

unfortunately, someone said already that these plecos are not very good cleaners .... i suppose i shoulda done research first :D

Nope, not good cleaners, but wicked looking plecos man. Enjoy.

No not good cleaners. I have an albino gibbiceps that is my best cleaner. But everything he cleans he poops back out so getting a pleco for that purpose seems a little pointless. You'll have less algae(wich can be beneficial for a tank), but more poop(not beneficial!!).
That's OK. Poop my filtration can deal with :D

PS: i cheated this time. The tank and bottom is black - so algae should be less of a problem except for the front which can be cleaned with the magnetic thingie

How tolerant are these plecos to current? Do they like it? Don't like it? indifferent?

PS: i will get hiding places for them ... black HDPE we have on site so i will just use those (and saw then in half to prevent rolling)

LOTS of current is good, the more the better. I have a mag drive 18 in a 90 gallon tank for mine. L114 are on the ban list as are most of the others. L114 and L600 have been known to interbreed, and I suspect it is possible with the others as well.

Phew, good news about the current. One more pleco's keeper confirmation?

<sigh> ... i hope they don't breed though ... i would not know what to do with extra plecos (plecos are not in fashion around here ... only available in black as cleaners) ...if aro bred ...well that would be something else

current is a good thing
OK, good news - thanx

In any case, i got some HDPE pipes from construction site that i am gonna cut in half and may be backfill with gravel on top to blend-in better. Gonna make 4-5 caves even if i got only 3 plecos ... to avoid real estate issues between bottom dwellers.

I really think thats a good idea for the sake of the plecos. They might become stressed without any hiding spots. BTW, this tank is going to be incredible!! IME with the L-114, I would also invest in some lunar lights if you dont already have them. Not saying you will experience the same behaviors, but if you have other larger fish in there, that may make them stay that much more nocturnal.
