18,000K bulbs have the wrong color spectrum for plants. The Life glo 2 bulbs are 6700K.

lol. theys have flora gro bulds that are only 5000k. they say it optomizes plant growth.when the plants release bubbles it is called pearling. do you have CO2 going intothe tank, that will really help them pearl.

Pearling is a sign that there is an over abundance of O2. My tank rarely pearls save for the couple days after a water change. Flora glo are only 2700K and are meant for terrestrial flora growth.

Hi all, I decided to get my feet wet with some low maintenance plants and a smaller tank to see how I took to keeping live plants. I'll admit right now that I love the look of the tank. I do have a few issues and I am hoping it is just because the plants are new to the tank and haven't full rooted.

Anyway, on to the pics:

Unknown, Sold as Misc Bundle

Unknown Number 2

Dwarf Sagittaria

BTW the background is just a spray on rock style paint. Meant for a textured paint feel. I decided to use it for a color breakup to the background rather than use one flat color. I think it sets the plants and rocks in the tank off.

1st unknown - appears to be a rotala, probably indica
2nd unknown - my best guess is didiplis diandra or myriophyllum

either way, thinner leaved plants tend to need higher lighting to stay looking decent. prob not the best of choices for starting out. If it lives great, but if it starts to die, don't get disappointed. Where did you get them at?
