POST PICS OF YOUR PLANTS AND PLANTED TANKS HERE

Looks good devilish, I'd recommend dosing some flourish excel in there to help keep the algae down.

Thanks mate! :)
Those pics were clicked 2 weeks ago, the introduction of DIY CO2 and Oto's has drastically brought down the algae problems. :headbang2

Great tanks all! I love the planted tanks with the bigger fish... that's what I may do with this at some point. As it stands now, it's a community tank, 120G.

WOW! nice tank whats ur setup like fferts lighting(kelvin and wattage) and any other added nutrients and co2?

Thanks J I put in a few iron tabs in the substrate, which is a knockoff Fluorite-type product made for ponds, but other than that only dose a water-column iron supplement infrequently (weekly or bi-weekly). 4-5” of substrate. Pressurized CO2 injection.

Lights are DIY… six 3-foot T8 bulbs, 4 of which are 3000k and two 10000k (hard to find 5000k, my preference, in a 36” bulb), and two 4-foot T8’s, one 5000k and one 3000k. So, 230 watts, but T8’s are stronger than T12’s, so I believe the effective wattage is more like 350 or so, which I guess translates into 2 to 3 watts per gallon or so, say 2.5 watts/gal.

Amazing tank Paullywolly!! I just got a 210 and I'm getting ready to set it up. I'm a little nervous about buying 4-5" of a substrate. For this tank it will probably cost more than the tank itself. What type of substrate did you use? Will something like the florite or flora base still be effective if it is mixed with a cheaper gravel?

Look into Soil Master Select. Around here, it's sold at a store called Lesco. It runs $17 for a 50lb bag.
