What kind of gravel are you using? Seachem's flourite is supposed to be very good for a planted aquarium, might be a good investment, i'm upgrading to that soon i can let you know how it works outVVateverzYo;801779;801779 said:my plants always dies =[
thanks, my substrate has been used since Sept. 2008, and it still has enough nutrition for at least 6 more months. the problem is: the more plants you add to your tank, the more nutritious the substrate must be and the harder to control algae( because of nutritious substrate), and filter, light, co2. Mine is a home-made substrate, it's cheaper than industrial ones like ADA or others( of course, quality is only garanteed after some experiments, and believe me, it's not easy, worth trying)FRESHVESH;2892089; said:that tank is awesome man! i want to start adding alot of plants to my tank anything i need to know about the best bottom for live plants ?
Nutiritient rich substrates do not aid alga growth much, as they don't have nitrogen. Also, the more plants you have, does not mean you need more of a filter, more light, or co2. A tank completely packed with anubias will do fine with very little light, no filter and no co2 injection. However a 10 gallon tank with glosso will need high lighting, good substrate, intense co2 injection and good ferts. Finally, most plants take up nutrients through their leaves just as much as there roots, some take up all of their nutrients through their foliage.quocthai105;2906686;2906686 said:thanks, my substrate has been used since Sept. 2008, and it still has enough nutrition for at least 6 more months. the problem is: the more plants you add to your tank, the more nutritious the substrate must be and the harder to control algae( because of nutritious substrate), and filter, light, co2.
