Some real nice catches on here so far.
My personal bests are:
- 32lb Northern Pike (caught on little #3 Chartreuse Blue Fox spinner while fishing for Perch)
- 38lb Carp (who really cares, those things are like gophers around here. They're everywhere and no matter how many you kill you can't get rid of them.)
- 8lb Walleye
- 2lb Brookie (That's pretty nice for a Brook Trout out of a creek no wider than my hallway in most spots)
I really want to catch a big Channel Cat! They've made their way up the river systems from the US into southern Sask and Manitoba( Red, Assiniboinne and Qu'appelle river systems) and are now recognized as an official gamefish here. I like fishing rivers and creeks, more adventure than being out on the lake. Would love to go for Cat's serious this summer...
Here's a couple of nice fish. The striper not my biggest by a long shot was cought from the surf at Island Beach on clam. The LMB the biggest I ever cought here in NJ at Spruce Run ~7 lbs. on 6lb test using a rootbeer slider with a #7 split shot about 7" from the hook, stitched over a drop off.
Biggest I can remember saltwater wise was a 22 lb Mangrove snapper on a charter like, 14 years ago. No pic, but it tasted great.
Freshwater:
Flathead cat - 38 lbs (no pic was when I was 12 fishing the ohio river with my uncle)
SMB - I wish
Pike - I wish even more
LMB - 9.5 lbs caught september 2011
Crappie - 2.4 lbs (no pic it was before I even had a camera with a buddy on a private 442 acre lake)
Bluegill - 1.6 lbs (yes, it was big enough I put my scale to it and no pic bc I was fishing alone with no camera)
