I was warned when you add live ghost shimp to your tank that chances are good they have fish lice that they can give to your fish and that even if you quarentine the shrimp it's still not safe to feed them.

This women told me that has seen shipments of Ghost shrimp come into her store filled with lice. So she doesn't even carry them anymore.

Have you all heard of this?

Is there any way that I can soak the Ghost shimp in something to kill those before feeding them to my Bichirs? I thought I heard something about that.

Once in awhile I'd like to feed the live ghost shrimp, unless it isn't safe or worth it, due to those lice.

I drop about 50 ghost shrimp into my 240 a week for my bichirs and ropes....I haven't noticed any infestations of lice yet. But I could just have been lucky so far. I even have a bunch in my community tank and they never spread any disease or lice in that tank either.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

I have never quarantined ghost shrimp, and i have no problems, other than some trying to escape their inevitable doom lol

I have been feeding Ghost Shrimp to mY fish and Bichirs for over 20 yrs no problems and I never put the water from them in my tanks, and I raise my ghost shrimpnow.

Been feeding ghost shrimp to birchers and fish for about a year now..Never heard of this problem nor have I had problems...like mentioned earlier I never let the LFS water near or in my tanks...
