yep just two in my 55 gal, i dont plan on getting a larger tank to have a shoal so 55gals and 2 RBP's will have to do, also if i had any more my bichirs life would SERIOUSLY be in jeopardy, whereas right now they have a 50/50 chance. (my bichirs actually attack my rbps when they get too close)

(my bichirs actually attack my rbps when they get too close) Ive had very aggressive bichirs before and just like RBP's it just depends on the "luck of the draw" as far as temperment and co-habitation. heres a pic of my bichirs that i had for a year back in '06 before i deployed. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1981&pictureid=21296 I wouldnt even consider putting any p's in with these guys. tank mates were 1 clown loach, 1 pleco, 3 RBPacus, and a goldfish who was a feeder that not only eluded getting eaten but also eluded me for about 3-4 months even thru regular tank cleaning. i think once he was to big for his perfect hiding place he had to come out and by then he was to big to be eaten, also picking up an aggressive temperment himself through i guess minor "run-ins" while in hiding.(attempting to bully the other tank mates, feeding on feeders instead of flakes, pellets, and granules that i fed my other feeders, etc.)

but if i were to have a larger shoal, i would have to get a bigger tank (i dont have the room for it) and then my Bichirs would not survive for sure. im just playin it safe for when they do grow to their potential size and not have to upgrade my tank size whereas if i were to have a 4-6 shoal id definately need a larger tank once they've reached their adult size

honestly dude 55g is too small for one adult RBP. A standard 55g is only 12" wide and RBPs grow up to 12". Imagine living in a room 30' long and your height wide...

thats true, but by time they reach 10"-12" id most likely have had sold my house and moved into a bigger house, preferably one that can accommodate 150+ setup but i still have time as both my RBP's are quarter size. but thank you for your thoughts, and recommendations, im one who actually takes into consideration others suggestions

I had a couple of snails that were fine for about 3 months and then one day I noticed on of the snails laying upside down. I took a closer look to find that my red bellies had eaten them rite through there shell
