Quietest and Most Reliable Powerhead

What is the Quietest and most reliable powerhead? I need a pump/power head to create current in my tank, what would you recomend? I currently have an aquaclear but its noisier than I would like. Is there anything better I should try?

How big is the tank? What kind of fish are in it? Do you have the venturi hooked up to the Aquaclear? You might want to take the venturi off to quiet it down.

I've had good luck with Maxi-Jets but the 1200 model still makes considerable noise, the 400 model is almost silent.

Nope theres no Venturi hooked up to it. It's for a 60 gallon tank and I'm trying to get 5-10 times turnover rate on it.

I was looking at the Maxi jets... are they quieter than the aquaclears?

my maxi jets are quieter than my aquaclear. ive had 2 koralia's work great for 3-6 months then start vibrating like holy hell.

the only problem i had with the aquaclear is that the mount transfers the powerheads vibration to the tank walls, greatly amplify'in it. the maxi jets do not have this problem IME.

always thought for there flow they were really cheap....

there are mod upgrades for maxijet that boost there flow to like 1200 gph if that interests you

i like maxi jets as long as they dont touch the glass. had one in my bb tank and it sounded like a deisel in my living room. but was silient once hung off the bottom
