Quietest and Most Reliable Powerhead

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've used them all, and I'm a Koralia fan.

I haven't tried Koralia, but I have Maxi-Jet, Aqua Clear and even Top Fin, of those three, Maxi-Jets have impressed me the most with Aqua Clear not too far behind. The Top Fin 30's in my 20 long had noticebly less flow after a year. My Maxi-Jet 1200's are quiet and strong. I plug the venturi on all my power heads, I want the maximum flow and quiet. As far as durability, I haven't had either a Maxi-Jet or an Aquaclear actually fail.

i like maxi jets as long as they dont touch the glass. had one in my bb tank and it sounded like a deisel in my living room. but was silient once hung off the bottom

How do you hang it off of the bottom? It's going in a bare bottom tank so what you just posted has got me a little worried.

So it sounds like its Korilia or Maxi Jet with Korilia in the slight lead.

ahhh... I just looked up what the Korilia was. I saw those at the fish store and came inches away from purchasing one BUT I remembered this was for a breeder tank with wee little babies that could get chopped up in those spinning blades.

Maxi Jet it is! :headbang2 Thanks guys!

id go korallia if it was me....

MaxiJets are just so linear in flow... in here, and out here. Great to attach to tubes as a pump.

Koralia is a hundred times better for good water circulation. The flow pattern is unmatched.

If you go with a Maxi Jet, attach it to a sponge filter. like so:

I want to go with a Koralia but I can't since this is for a breeding tank. It seems like the babies would get chopped up in the spinning blades. Do you guys have a solution for this?
