would you try it with the oscars in the pond? and the pacu that will be coming in for the winter? the pacu are 6-7" i love the barred midas but i dont want to chance having it go on a killing spree, but if you midas/rd experts (moderator now congrats liz) think it might be enough of a footprint to keep him in his own area ill give it a shot.
i can not honestly say what to do or what would work for you..it is always a chance.. i have my two wild oscars together with 2 black belts and one red devil... occasionally the oscars fought with each other although now they are peaceful again...but no one bothers the RD and the RD bothers no one.. i believe she is female and i do not know if that is making the difference... and thanks very much.

would you do it if it was your pond with your oscars and your chance at a very very inexpensive very personable barred midas?
Are you able to see them in your pond... because then you would be able to investigate how it is all going ... a little chasing and bullying is okay but constant pounding would usually mean someone is going to end up lost... so just have to consider all the opportunity you would have of physically being able to keep an eye on things..

i got it in there now (left immediately) and it seems to be leaving the oscars alone so long as they stay to there own side. the 7" tiger O tried to bully the midas but it just sat there and took the first 5 or 6 bumps then it bumped back and swam away and the O just sat there and decided not to try anymore.

as soon as i can borrow a camera again ill take some pics. my wives broke so now i need to buy her a new one. ya my mother in law came over and i told her that i wanted to get the fish and she said she would get it for me as my early b-day present if i wanted it so i said hell yeah and out the door we went. i just got done netting out a 6" and an 8" goldfish out of my outside pond and dropped them in there, also pulled out a few babies for my pike and gar to snack on. hoping that the goldfish will keep the aggression down between the oscars and the midas.
