it is too bright outside - i thought that reds require dark environment to color up.

community? it has been a disaster for Asian aro comm tank - none get a long - the silver comm tank is coming along nicely though

my silver was transferred at the outside tank, then it was tanned during the daytime for almost 3-4 months or more, but i noticed that its coloration improved it started to have some thin red colors without the use of pink lights. Even banjar reds have their color improved when they are exposed to the sun at long periods of time. have you noticed some red arowana groomers they tan their reds by either the use of a nan light or sunlight..

Hmmm, sunlight ... my silvers are not exposed to any sunlight ... they are slightly pinkish ... in any case, i can not move the red guy out. gotta move the smallest one, cos the outside tank is the smallest (even then might just leave it for the new arrivals next week) - i really do not like moving fish around =P

Hey toychik,

try taking pics of your fishes without the use of camera flash. Set your camera to macro mode and light up your room....I really believe the fish color is not as washed out as shown in the pics.

I must admit that i suck at taking pix of the fish. I tried to take pix of the fish without flash but the pictures are very grainy and blury. Admitedly, the fish room has very little natural light.

My camera is also pretty crappy, i did try to get a DSLR but the shop keeper was not very nice during my last trip to bangkok so i abandoned the idea for now.

I can not turn on the aquarium light for now as long as XB and BB are together. Their behavior changes very drastically when there is change in lighting. I will be trying to take pix without flash when XB is moved out ... <sigh> ... i have not seen my fishies with proper lighting for quite some time already - all i can say is that they are active and eating regularly.

I have noticed red trimming around the scale near the head on the back of red guy when zooming in this photo - EXCITING!! Check it out

I also attached unscaled resolution pix of BB and XB so that can be zoomed in. The blue is blue and shiny; while X-back is just shiny with blue-ish hues

...i still have to find a way to make the tank look less messy - i mean with all them pipes and all that inside the tank ... but thanks for compliment
