I think its pretty common for RTCs to swallow then spit up rocks. I work in the industry and have seen or heard of this pretty often.

yeh sum people say they do it wen they wana force themselves to puke (ie. wen they have indigestion). shouldnt be a huge problem unless they eat way too many rocks or they eat a huge one...

My hybrid ate some big rocks(3.4" dia) and puked them up a month later, they were really worn one one side of both rocks. You could see the shape of them in his gut. I had quarantined some perch and when I put them in with him he snapped them up so quick he got rocks with them. He's fine though.

Small 100 gal or 10gal? 100 gallons should hold him for maybe 1.5 years but will need a lot more room after that. I had mine in 55gal for 9 months and my tsn and my rtc are now in 125 gal comfortable but will need more room (hopefully next step for me will be a pond.)

Heres some pics of my Channel Cat after having his meal and my RTC playing hide and go seek with the Minnows.

i have a rtc and he is about 6" or 7" i was wondering if there is any type of food i can feed him so his tail gets redder. alot of people have told me that i just have to wait till it gets bigger, but i believe that there are certain foods that could increase the red pigment in his tail. By the way this is my first post and i just wanted to say hi. i have a 55 gal corner tank with 3 tinfoil barbs 4"-6", 4 clown loaches all about 4 inches long, a 6 in. clwon knife fish, a 5 in polypterus senegalus, a 5 in. striped catfish, a 5 in silver dollar, 3 4 in. filamentosa barbs, a 4 in red parrot, and a 4 in. blue acara
