Necro,
I was going to be completing my fish room this summer, and I want to keep a rtc and tsn. I was going to buy the metal framed 10 foot diameter and 4 foot high pool in the fall after I finish my fishroom when they go on sale:). Would this size of pool hold a rtc and tsn for life? I was also thinking about having 2-3 pacu in the pool as well. Are these pacu also ok? I figured because of the pacu size, the rtc and tsn would leave them alone, is this correct?

Sorry another question,

How easy is it to sell a 2-3 foot rtc?

I will be putting him in a 10 foot diameter 3 foot high pool, which would fit for life, but I could be moving in 2 years and might have to sell him.

Thanks again.

Sorry for the delay in answering. The pool will work so long as it doesn't leak. Mine does leak and I will be building a better tank to hold my monsters. Good luck in selling. Best bet would be to find someone who can actually house this monster and try to get them to take it off your hands for free. They don't resale very well when at a large size. If you have a public aquarium near by they might take it off your hands but don't expect them to, because they get hundreds of people looking to get rid of large unwanted catfish as they don't relize how large they get. Good luck.

Thanks. How badly is your pool leaking, and do most people who put large cats in pools end up with the pool leaking?

Think I am the only one so far on here. Mine started leaking about 2 weeks after I set it up. I tore it down, patched it, and set it back up. 2 weeks later another leak. It stopped leaking after a few weeks, and then started up another month later after fish were in it. It's been leaking non-stop since then. I'd say a gallon or more a day.

I could deal with a gallon or more a day. So the pool was leaking before the fish were even put in it? I was under the impression a large cat could put a hole in the pool liner with a fin. Is this even possible, and how likely is it to happen? Thanks.

It's likely, but hasnt' happened to me yet. They would have to be larger. One way to get around this is to keep hiding spots away from the sides of the pond and you won't have to worry about it as much. MIne mainly leaked if I would move around the rocks on the bottom.
