Ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites are all 0. He still is just a bump on a rock to me at this point. Could it be that hes scared of the other fish? He was breathing hard on Saturday but then returned to normal Sunday and today. He has not once come up for food, just eats off the bottom.
you shouldn't have all your readings at 0... but anyway chances are that he's just chillin... all of my big cats cruise their tanks though... and I've never had the "bump on a log" cats...

Anyone have their RTC on pellets? What kind do you feed them?

Mine will eat what ever I throw in the tank, but it really doesn't make financial sence for me to feed him Pellets since he could take almost the whole bag in a single feeding... it's cheaper to feed him with Sardines, Shrimp, Octopuss, Fillets and what ever else gets freezer burnt in my freezer LOL

Haha, mines still a baby and not really a big eater so I think it'd be easier to feed him some pellets. He will only eat about three 1cm pieces of shrimp. And when I say 1 cm, I'm rounding up. And some reason he never seems to see the food going into the tank, I pretty much HAVE to hand feed him.

i agree....u def wana get them to eat dead/frozen meat for wen they grow large...but wen they r young u could use hikari massivore pellets...those are extremely high in nutrients and will make ure fish grow HUGE and fast!

I bought a small RTC/TSN about 2 weeks ago and as far as I can tell he is not eating. He is about 5 inches and since I am pretty new to this whole thing I was wondering what to feed him. I had been reading about cut up fresh shrimp...he wanted nothing to do with that. Blood worms maybe??? Nope. What do I feed him. I wnat him to grow and be a happy little guy but I can't get hime to eat. Unfortunately my two Black Ghost Knifes died this morning and I am pretty sure it was some kind of chemical burn from where some of the other fish came down with ICH and I was treating it. I didn't figure it out until too late. My catfish looks happy right now and he is swimming all around. I am gonna go get some night crawlers and see if he likes those but any help would be great. Thanks.

so I'm new too MASSIVE cats. I've got a 300 gallon with:
1 silver aro 14"
3 oscars 10" each
1 green terror 6"
1 LSN 11"

I love RTC's and TSN's but i know that the tank is too mush too small for an adult RTC. what's the thoughts on a TSN? just asking around before i do anything stupid. :)

oh and its a 6ft 300. got it used, must have been custom from what i have gathered. if that makes a difference. thanks ahead of time guys!
