I have been housing a TSN i got from a buddy because it outgrew his tank , the fish is great! But, recently another friend of mine had the same thing happen to his RTC and now i have both( u'd think one of them would research a spices b4 buying >.>) anyway both are in my 200g and closing in on 20 inches. The RTC has only been here for a week and im noticing disputes but it seems like it's really just over the "best" hiding spot. Should i be concerned of battles or are they just argueing over the spot?

ok everyone I need help. I'm concerned about some feeding issues in my tank. First for the basic tank info - I have a 12in TSN, a 7in Dymino Syno and a 10in Giant Gourami in a 130gal tank. When I first got the TSN I fed him feeder goldfish. Then my tank got fin rot. I switched to chiclid sticks and sinking carnivor pellets (rotating them out). He would always eat but it was in his own time. He never ate as soon as I put the food in. I've tried different times as well to see if that made a difference, he seems to perfer to eat really late at night and as much as I love my fish I'm not getting up at 2am to feed him lol. I recently got a 10in Giant Gourami and he's eating everything I put in as soon as I put it in. I'm concered that my TSN isn't eating. He looks a little skinny but since he usually waited until late night to eat I'm not sure if he isn't eating at all or if he is finding scraps around the tank. Also he hasn't really been the same since I stop the feeder fish, he's much less active and he almost seems like he's depressed. Should I switch back to live food? Do you guys have suggestions for other types of food? Or is there any tips to feeding to get the GG to leave some food for my TSN? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I'm relatively new to the hobby. This is my first big tank!

Well, I went and got him feeder fish the other day. His head was sinking in and he was really skinny. I think I'm just going to have to give him feeders from now on

Hey guys, quick question

I recently got a nice little 4 inch RTC on sunday of this week, he seemed fine the first few days and was playfully exploring his 110 gallon expanse

I went to church and came home and noticed he was wedged between my air stone and the wall of the tank. I have no real structure in the tank so I just kind of assumed this was his way of hiding.

Any ways, I fed him yesterday morning with a few small pieces of shrimp and he wolfed them down, I noticed ever since then he's been breathing hard and has rewedged himself against the glass and air stone.

Is he just digesting or is he in some trouble, I also read on the thread that some RTCs are just heavy breathers, any thoughts?

ps
for anyone wondering, the tank has been empty for about 2 weeks, me and my dad completely cleaned it up and let it just settle out, when we did tests then all levels seemed fine

Thanks for the help everyone, I'll get pics of my RTC up for you guys to check out

you should get a log or something for it to hide in they like that when little...if the prams are fine including ammonia, it could just be digesting my cats breath heavy after a meal...you do know that the cute little 4" rtc is going to be a 3-5' beasty that can eat small children right....

clean water...you need like 10x changeover per hour for filtration or the cat will most likely die...they are more sensitive then most fish and if uncomfertible they will shed and vomit witch will worsen the tank water...
