Its enough that i can keep up with with my schedule. I keep the nitrites around 80 ONLY because of the live plants in the tank and they thrive off this, but due to the increasing appetite of these guys, ,they are eating the plants as well while im at work.

Well they are hardy fish and while 80 is not advisable, I'm sure they will be fine until you can upgrade. They are destroying plants because they are oscars. Not because they are hungry. :)

TSN are not jumpers, not that I have heard anyway.

cubanboy - why not feed a sinking food instead? Catfish are bottom feeders. They may learn to steal food from topwater, but it is better to feed them on bottom.

i think my tsn ate some pebbles.. all the other fish seem to be accounted for, he's about 3" with some community fish about the same size that im not very attached too. but the substrate is pebbles form when the p.o. had when he had the tank tank set up (125 until he gets about a foot, then im planning on a 300 at least) but his belly is huge and kinda lumpy.. is there any proven way to have him regurgitate without hurting him? i kind of want to massage his stomach underwater but the last thing i want to do is make him uncomfortable.. any help would be greatly appreciated

i wuld like to feed him floating pellets because in my pond the sinking pellets will probly get stuck in between the rocks on the bottom. also does anyone know when they get their red tail? my is about 4 inches and its tail is like black and white. what length does it have to be?

Hm. Well they are bottom feeders, so I'm not sure what to tell you other than hope for some luck that he learns to top feed, but he will prefer bottom feeding and most likely will be too lazy to come to the top just to feed. Good luck.
