After some thought, I will say the Parachromis genus certainly seems to have a Pitbull-mentallity, as in they have to win at everything, seem very alert and attentative and content by believing they are doing something to please their owner. Being a Jag-guy for nearly 10 years I missed out on these 2 others which have quickly become favorites, the Red Tiger and the Wolf. More so than the Jags even I can equate the RTM as "a pitbull w/ fins but morbidly aggressive for no reason". While you would think the name "Wolf Cichlid" would speak for itself, however if I had my way, changing it to "Dire Wolf" would still be understating
Also, I think since I changed "Freddys" back to Yellowjackets, I vote a new, more appropriate and "descriptive" name for Loiselle's Cichlids from now......anyone else like "Lion Cichlid" or "Leopard Cichlid"? Golds and Blacks all day, seems fitting for appearance and aggression...could also go with "Hyena Cichlid". To me the term "False Yellowjacket" (especially since I find Yellowjackets and Loiselle's incredibly hard to tell apart) is more fitting to this species, rather than the RTM which it refers too.....call me a radical for trying to make changes to the scientific world, but I feel all 5 of these Cichlids need a name that also serves as a "Warning Label" to those who don't know what they are really getting into.
46 by my countYou saw a Spotted Pim, a Shovelnose, a CAE and the 2 Morays, right?
Yeah parachromis got the pitbull tenacity when they go on attack mode...then the puppy dog tail wagging behavior when they want food....as far as the names I like the cat theme names as it goes with their predatory behavior.(jaguar,Red tiger)..except for dovii because they do seem wolf like to me....lion cichlid would be good for loisellei ,but might cause confusion with lyonsi...but I think Freddy's could be the leopard cichlid I think their pattern can be leopard like(might be already taken)......since you like jags here is my old one looking like a jaguar in his pattern and a couple of other cats (from the Syracuse zoo).....
