As you requested in my mota thread..I'm looking at your RTM....at a glance the one in the pic to the left of the pleco looks male and the one in the pic near the heater looks female ... at that size both mine had the horizontal black blotch stripe running across their sides but only the female had the vertical black stripes come in and go as dark as yours in the second pics....my male had them just not as defined......lets see some more pics....and nice dog...it seems that many people who have cichlids have bully type breed dogs......
After some thought, I will say the Parachromis genus certainly seems to have a Pitbull-mentallity, as in they have to win at everything, seem very alert and attentative and content by believing they are doing something to please their owner. Being a Jag-guy for nearly 10 years I missed out on these 2 others which have quickly become favorites, the Red Tiger and the Wolf. More so than the Jags even I can equate the RTM as "a pitbull w/ fins but morbidly aggressive for no reason". While you would think the name "Wolf Cichlid" would speak for itself, however if I had my way, changing it to "Dire Wolf" would still be understating :)

Also, I think since I changed "Freddys" back to Yellowjackets, I vote a new, more appropriate and "descriptive" name for Loiselle's Cichlids from now......anyone else like "Lion Cichlid" or "Leopard Cichlid"? Golds and Blacks all day, seems fitting for appearance and aggression...could also go with "Hyena Cichlid". To me the term "False Yellowjacket" (especially since I find Yellowjackets and Loiselle's incredibly hard to tell apart) is more fitting to this species, rather than the RTM which it refers too.....call me a radical for trying to make changes to the scientific world, but I feel all 5 of these Cichlids need a name that also serves as a "Warning Label" to those who don't know what they are really getting into.

Well then make that 47 more to go.
46 by my count :D You saw a Spotted Pim, a Shovelnose, a CAE and the 2 Morays, right?

My House!
Just little guys, male is about 4.5", female probably 3'' - 3.5" .....he's a good deal larger, the pix make her appear bigger than she really is. Does this help you sex better now?

well, that was worded oddly, but you get what I mean right? lol
Lol yeah that makes sense. Your female looks a lot my Horrace when he was just a baby, she looks full of swag, I recon if you spent some time talking to her, she'd develop an awesome personality. :D

Didn't even see this post until just now, IDK how.....The RTMs are about 3" for the larger one, maybe 3.25" and the smaller one is probably 2.5"....I can see speckling on the gill plate of the larger one, but if that means male why is that one w/ spots more reds/auburns/burgundy/sienna colors while the one without spots just basically looks black and gold to me. As far as he dogs I guess we like the similarities they share w/ cichlids.....personally I always just been a fan of badass animals. If I had my way, I'd work w/ Crocs 7 days a week
Sounds like your larger one is beginning the male color transformation....mine got to a point that he was more colorful as a young adult than as a larger adult...we all seem to come up with our personal names...I call it the psychedelic phase.....

your female will be the one beginning to have a base color of red, orange or gold with black stripes and the male will have more more multi colored markings.....

Yes...all the male in chronological order as he developed....the last shot my lighting is not as good.,but that's how he looks currently...on a good day when his colors are on he puts the chromis in parachromis....a couple of the female as she developed...black stripes beginning to become prominent.,and more of a solid red coming in on the gill plate area ...and a current pic...you already know what happened to her midsection.....
