I'm seeing a trend here...

Tell the truth now...You don't care about the pond at all....You just like digging! Right?!

If you eliminate part of the shelf, remember you will have to fold the liner and it could be tricky in mid stream.

Before you use the pool for all of your fish do a quick search. I know people use them but I seem to remember someone posting that they sometimes come with an antifungal coating and you need to clean them thoroughly with bleach and rinse first. It would be terrible to loose valuable stock.

I thought about that beforehand, so I tossed in about 100 goldfish to test the water so to speak. The bulk of them survived, so in went the fish. I made the mistake of trying to use a plastic laundry basket in order to catch the fish to move them. I dropped the water level to about 1/3, but I still could'nt get them to cooperate:nilly:. So, my wife, while amused, still took pity on manly attempts to catch the fish and suggested buying a fish net. Brilliant. So I went to walmart and bought the biggest catch and release net they had...best $25 I ever spent. I was done transfering the fish in about 10 minutes...:headbang2 Everybody is well and it's been over 24 hours now...so I think the danger from the stress of the transfer has passed. Now back to the pond...

Well to tell the truth about the 700... I am undecided what to do as of right now. Too much else going on between the pond and the master bath renovation. Part of me wants to save it and fix it down the road; the other part wants to get rid of it. If I decide to get rid of, I'll probably sell it real cheap; the stand will be included as well...the only prob will be transportation. Whoever gets it would need a pickup with a full size bed plus a trailer.

My hat is off to you my friend. You dig all you want by hand. You are far better then I. I would go nuts after on day.

P.S. the last time I saw anyone dig a hole that big by hand was in the movie frality. So as long as you don't decide it would make a great basement for your demon killing this should turn out pretty sweet lol

Well the liner arrives tomorrow; but I still have some work to do...I still need to buy the parts for and construct the filter and I am still hunting for the right pump. I have some questions for those in the know-can pool pumps be used for ponds? I am sure this question has been asked and answered before, so forgive me for the redundancy. If so, is there a difference between the in-ground pumps and the above ground pumps?

Any recommendations in re to my last post? After doing more research, I have found a couple of submersible pumps that may do the job: Savio water master solids 5000- 5000gph, 700 watts, 6 amps, $380, around 3700 gph at 10' of head. I could go with the 6500 model; just a few more bucks... The other is a Big Frog by Alita- aup-400. 5500 gph, 1/2 hp, .4kw motor, 400 watts, $355. Any thoughts at all on these or on my last post? Thanks folks
