go with american made.
go with a charger with the v8 and awd. then add a turbo.
always go with american(pref dodge or chrysler)
just a story, have a 73 dodge dart swinger. had it sitting for over a year. gave it a jump the other day and pumped the gas 2 times! and it fired right up!! cant beat it

Not everyone wants power and speed. You think a 500hp car would be nice to carry your mother in-law around town?

Depending on how old you are like mids 20s, you should go for more luxury/ sport. For the times when you have to carry older people with you, like your parents/ girlfriends parents.

i have been toying with the idea of a 97-98 240sx with r33 body kit and a rb26dett swap... a hell of alot more power than the sr20

doing this would also let me think practical and i could get my self the pick up im looking at or maybe a suv..

*Whispers* Vertex...

This is a good option though. Mckinney Motorsports makes the RB26DETT mounts and they're affordable. As well as other accessories you might need. You will need a RB25DET tranny though.

I actually wanted to build a RB26 s14 awhile ago. It would be a nice car with almost too much power for a 2800lb s14 chassis, but after thinking about it for me personally I'd rather have a rotary car so I'm holding out.

I hate Rotarys! Nothing more annoying than the sound of those things. For making soo much noise, they are always a let down once you see them run. :screwy: They're almost as 3 star as body kits!

I can see the rotary envy living within you.. go ahead.. let it out.

I dont want to cary around my mother in law. lol
anyways a charger is a 4 door sports car.

DO NOT GET AN EVO OVER AN STI.

First you can make way more power out of an sti.

The evo is a 2.0? running how much boost like 15-17 I caint rember

The sti is all engine and only like 13.5 of boost. Dont get me wrong the evo is a sweet ride but the sti is far better, I would get an older model than the new hatchback.

You can easly make around 400 dependable whp with oem sti block and go to 5-600 with stock block. Do not settle for wrx, EVERYTHING in the sti is upgraded, EVERYTHING.

Watch this video and tell me that rotaries all sound like rubbish and are a let down: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au7F2ttEXWU
4-rotor street legal low 10 seconds, and that was years ago on its second or third outing.

Nic; Regarding the S14, you're obviously buying a japanese car for something with refined handling and balance, rather than just balls out power (otherwise I guess you'd be sticking with something american), so for that reason I wouldn't do the RB26 swap. Yes it might be easier to get big power out of it, but with bolt-ons on the SR20 (intercooler, turbo/manifold/wastegate, exhaust and a good tune) you'll have plenty of power to have fun with. Get some good coil-overs, sway bars etc and you'll be set.

Buy I have to warn you, the S14's are really big ugly tanks, go with an S13 or S15... :grinno:

just pulled up vertex website... :headbang2

yea i know i need the tranny... adds another few grand to it :( prob do a sr20 at first and if i need more power then swap out for the rd26 or maybe the rb30dett if i can find on for a good price... wonder how the car would handle with one of them... my buddy was telling me he knows of a 300zx thats in good shape need some engine work though... so that has me thinking engine and tranny overhall and upgraded turbos... but i wont know till i go see the car and get some prices from the machine shop...
still got my eye on the potential g35 as well...
the cost of properly doing a rotary keeps me from them or i would just buy a rx8

Yeah, you got me. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna go pull 6 plugwires off, just for the right effect. :D
