So I have heard from 2 people in the aquarium trade that freshwater rays are now illegal in NY. I am not sure if it is NYC or all of the state. i searched the web but have not found anything yet. Aparently it was passed this month. I do not know if it is sale or keeping.

I do know they can not be imported through the NYC airports anylonger.

If any one knows more about this please share.

Thanks

(btw New Jersey is a follower, whenever big brother nyc passes something we usually follow suit)

Looks like that move might be sooner then expected. Send your rays to me ill hold them for you to relocate. Stupid new regulations, makes you wonder who or why the change came about. Ill try looking around tomorrow and see what I can find, work plans to be slow.
My wife commented that stingrays would not even get you on the fatal attractions TV show what's all the worrying.

Yea that's the word I've gotten from the local stores that used to carry motoros and retics by me in queens.

Probably applies to just Manhattan. Still a stupid law. Even if someone did dump their ray in the native water's, it would die instantly from the cold. Wish i knew what the reasoning was.

This sounds similar to a few reptile laws here in pa, like you can't own alligators within the Harrisburg city limits. It's just dumb what are the "ray police" gonna come and get your stingrays from you?
