Sump design, how does it look?

I would do canisters over the UGF or UGJ. I would lower the bottom plate that the scrubbies sit on. Its not bad to have some of them under water too. Also keep in mind how much water you will have from your 300 if the power goes out...just make sure you have room for the extra water. Other than that looks good!

I am not considering an underground filter. I am thinking about using the output from the sump to do an under ground jet system. It really doesn't have anything to do with a canister. What it does is help keep the waste in the water longer so it has a better chance of getting filtered out of the tank.

Would this be better?

I know what the UGJ are...I thought about doing them but im going to keep africans and they dig a lot. I think properly placed return jets from up top can work just as good. If you did UGJ having your return pump do it will make you get a much bigger pump to battle the pressure of going down under water in the tank and going out the bends in the pvc to get the jets where you want them. I would use a seperate powerhead to run the UGJ.

I am going to run wetdry on my 240 and some canisters. The plan is the canisters will be soly mech filtration to grab it before it settles and before it makes its way to the top for the over flow. And to add curent to the tank. Not saying thats the only way to do it...thats just how I am doing it...:D

Is that the same from the first one you posted or am I going crazy :screwy: lol

I would also make the filter sock area smaller...I dont think you will need 12". That will give you more room for water from the tank if power goes out. And I would make the bio chamber a little taller too. You can go closer to the top of the tank.

Here are some more changes. Hopefully I'm getting closer to where I need to be.

I would take the wall that is between the filter socks and the scrubies and raise it to the same level as the wall that is between the scrubbies and the open sump/pump area. Then put the drip plate and filter pad where ever it needs to be in that range but it will give you a deeper filter sock area. Some socks are long like 14" so give it some room pluse you get a little more bio area. Also put the Filter socks going the other way...use the 12" of the tank...follow?

Yeah, that sounds like a plan.

Put the socks on the right side like I did with my 170. That'll make alot more room.

I plan on putting the filter socks front to back, just didn't know how to show it in the picture. Also reduced that one down to 8" wide. I'm afraid to put the divider as high as the other one becaues I don't want the water to go across it, I want it to have to go down the drip plate. At 17" it is only 3" from the top of the tank already.
