let me state my opinions

chili red and blood red are different

cant remember the exact traits

but one is longer than the other one is deep red than the other the other is more more orange red

one has larger fins than the other with a different tail shape 1 pear shape the other fan shape

chili and blood red originally came from different locations

what has happened is the farms have thrown loads of chili and blood reds into the same ponds meaning they cant say 100% if they are from chili or blood parents so now they just call them super red

a true chili or blood red will be of better grade than the normal super red as they should be a better strain

all that said names mean nothing you look at the fish you like you buy if not walk away who cares what it says on the cert
diamond tail is chilli and fan is blood i think

you maybe right

i have not been messing around with aros for about 4 months its mad how fast you forget things

but their is differences between chili and blood

on the export cert it will still state red aro

i wouldn't care what it says on the cert or the farm it comes from as long as i like the fish i would buy

all farms have good and bad aros no matter what it says on the cert even plat AAAAAA SUPER GRADE this and that can still have protruding lower jaw drop eye Gil curl or swim bladder problems

Pure breed chili have spoonhead and diamond shape tail. Blood red have bullethead and fan shape tail. However it's hard to find a pure breed these days as even blood red or chili today have both genes now. Some blood red even have spoonheads or vise versa.

A good site for more info on the subject for those interested:

This is my supposedly Blood Red... That is what the Cert. states :)

hmmm interesting earl

if its chili red or blood red traits you like then go for a aro certed as such as the farm breeders must have spotted something to give it that cert

anything certed super red who knows what will happen but you should still be able to spot the tail shape

as i said forget the cert just look see buy

i think to much attention is payed to the cert not the way the fish looks like

Thanks for everyone's input. Learn't a great deal. Looks like I'm after a Chilli Red rather than Blood Red if there is a difference anymore considering the cross breeding taking place. Now the hard part, saving up for the fish.
