Tankmates with JARDINI (READ!!!)

going to get a 4 inch jardini and keep it with 6 tiger barbs. hopefully they will be too quick for the jardini to catch

my 6 inch jardini killed two 2.5 inch preacox this weekend. Both had a big wound behind their head and all the fins were gone. I think he's gonna be a mean bastard when he's bigger!
Try large Bala Sharks, large Tinfoil Barbs, or large Silver Dollars. Key here is large...has to be bigger than your jardini. These fishes are also generally fast enough that they can outrun the jardini, if the jardini feels sadistic at the moment.
Aggressive cichlids are a bad idea...as the cichlids will probably win. I put a single 4" Red Zebra with my jardini when my jardini was 6-7", and it beat the hell out of the jardini. I had to get the Red Zebra out of there as it tore up the jardini's fins.
I also have a 10" FH (see picture at left)...and I can say it is a lot meaner than the jardini. My jardini lives peacefully with Bala sharks, bristlenose plecos, an ornate bichir, and emerald corys. My FH lives by itself...it's killed every other inhabitant in its tank.

I've read a lot of the post and I'm hoping I must admit, I'm waiting patiently for my Jardini to become aggressive or at least to start eating the population of convicts I have waiting for just that purpose.
Maybe I'm one of the "lucky" ones because now my Jardini is about 10 - 11 inches and he's just as docile as the mollies in the tank (they were supposed to be food!)
The history is that I put the Jardini in the tank when it was much smaller and I was initially concerned that the bullying would come from the then much larger convicts. Since that didn't happen, (combined with the fact that the parent convicts protected their offspring so well) I continued to feed the jardini crickets. Unfortunately, convicts love crickets too, so it's a feeding frenzy as soon as the bastages hit the water.
Still, I'm waiting for the day when the population of my convicts start diminishing and I see my jardini's belly nice and plump. Maybe the "switch" will turn on at 12" for this fish... hopefully.

it's just a matter of time. Jardinis are psycho fish. I thought I could do the same. Stop feeding it, and it will eat all the fish in your tank. I gave mine away. Nobody would buy it. Local fish store gladly took it for some feeders.
I have a leichardti like that....its as if he is just too lazy to catch its own food..
