10 gallon tank: very light amount of sand on the bottom, don't use bright light, add lots of tank decoration. The best filter for this is a sponge filter because once you have fry they won't get sucked up into any intakes. I would definitely add a little powerhead for the adults to induce breeding, because current increase is another spawning trigger. Remove the powerhead once they lay eggs. Have some methylene blue on hand to treat the eggs (just my experience, Cory eggs fungus over very easily). If you can find a SAFE CLEAN supply of live blackworms or equivalent small worm, feed that. Otherwise, use frozen bloodworms along with a high quality staple food. Feed them as much as they will eat, but not so much that there is a ton of food on the bottom all the time (live food is ok to stay in the tank as long as it isn't dead... My 20 gallon now has a breeding colony of blackworms).fishmamma;5101160; said:My wood is coming!! I ordered ordered it last night!!! Super excited about that!!!!
I won't take you up on that bet either, cause your very likely to be right!
You know, I've actually been stalking them out lately (alot) and I think I may have a mix, of male and female... because there are 2-3 that are signifigently fatter than the others..
Cold water changes, huh? How cold? for how long should they be in the 10g?It's pretty warm down here, so my tap comes out right about 80 degrees.. it's hard to change the temp in my tanks unless I were to cool it a bit with some ice.. I do have an extra 10g, just itching to be filled ... humm!
I would say keep the tank at like 75 degrees, and try to do water changes where it ends up at 70 degrees (keep heater on so it slowly rises back up). If you have a nice thermometer, just fill a 5 gallon bucket with treated tap, and throw some ice in there until it gets down to about 66 or so... Do 50% water changes with that.
Keep em in the 10 gallon until they breed! If they haven't done it after a couple months, then they likely won't breed for you right now.
OH AND DO NOT FEED FEEDERS! That is absolutely the best way to make your fish sick.
