yea i never heard of the adonis being called a vampire plec, this is normally the common name given to leporacanthicus galaxias.

Acanthicus Adonis is not a vampire plec in any way. The Leporacanthicus family has 3 different species: L. Galaxias (L007, L029), L. Triactus (L091), and L. Joselimai (L264). Acanthicus adonis is can be an aggresive fish, but as long as he is housed with either larger plecos, or in a large tank with adequate hiding places this shouldn't be a problem. There may be fighting at first, but gradually as the adonis becomes more comfortable with his surroundings the fighting will lessen to none.

There is also L172- Leporacanthicus galaxias sp. which also have L172a and b, Leporacanthicus heterodon 'Gold' and Leporacanthicus heterodon which are often confused because when the gold colour goes, they become a dull grey (from ill health or just not at their best). The golden subspecies i think is beautiful, but i am yet to find one.

Have they become part of Leporacanthicus recently??? As far as I knew they were actually Scobinancistrus.

i've always known them as Leporacanthicus heterodon 'Gold'- just because i've always got my eye open for one. googled it and a there were quite a few hits for it as L172.
