Zoodiver, I agree that oscars are a bad food choice, but if he does it once in a wile whats the big deal? It's like junk food if you eat it every day sure it will kill you, but if you have it as a treat every so often you will be fine.
I feel that there is a bit of an elitest attitued going on here, with both parties having a bit of a supiriority complex. Yes I accept that you have more experience then TheCanuck, but that being said, the only way he can learn from his supposed "mistakes" is by people like you who have more experience helping him, not openly chastizing him about what he is doing wrong.
People respond to critasism better if you are more polite about it, if you offer a suggestion rather then just saying he is wrong it is more likely that he would procced towards change. I see it to often in threads, people attack others for doing something wrong but do it in a way that no one gains. If I were to say someones feeding habits are stupid and they shouldn't keep that fish would they listen? Not likely. Would they learn anything from that comment? No. I would have to say something like that method of feeding isn't the best from my experience/research, I find its best to try to do it this way... to maintain better health of the fish. That would permit the person to view your comment as help instead of critasism, therefore progress to better husbandry.
I'm not trying to start something... I just feel like the attitudes by our more experienced members towards newer ones needs to change. I'm sorry if that makes me sound like a bad person, but its just how I've been seeing things. That said TheCanuck has done the same thing, hence his temporary banning, so It's not just experienced members, though it's more of an issue with them. As they are the ones people look to for help.
