The revenue generated annually from fishing The Graat Lakes is more than $7 billion so no spending $1 billion to protect that industry is certainly worth it in my opinion. There are more than 45 collective projects in this fight as it's 4 species of carp they’re fighting against. I’m local and have quite a few friends who this directly impacts their livelihood.

A billion dollars could honestly just be spent to wipe the entire great lakes ecosystem, salmonids, carp, and all (AGAIN, mind you, we already accomplished this) and start it over, again, at this point. Reallocate jobs of people who rely on the fisheries there to restocking the lake after.

Clearly your internet works as you posted that question so let me Google that for you. It’s not me personally but my best man in my wedding and best friend to date. He’s a 3rd generation fisherman. Thousands make a living on the Great Lake, you can be that naive.

Well, damn I thought you were a commercial fisherman of those waters and was just asking which particular fish you were after,I know nothing about the fishery there.....my mistake for asking a damned question, you can keep your snarkiness to yourself!

If a handful of people must suffer for the benefit of the majority in society then it is for the greater good.

Have you seen what some people will pay for ridiculously stupid foods? There once was a king or something along those lines, his people were starving so he tried to hand out potatoes but his people looked down upon them so he planted a royal potato garden and ordered his guards to patrol it making it seem like potatoes were an incredibly cool food. He ordered his guards that if they found someone trying to steal some to let them run away and not catch them or for the very few they caught to let them bribe the guards for a small amount to get away. Because of the kings plans potatoes became popular and his people didn’t go hungry. I don’t have time to look back into it atm but after work I will

Yeah, the slaughtering of gar grinds my gears as well.
Yes! One of my favourite fish species. Cant believe due to certain mindsets the population of alligator gar have dwindled down so much they are considered to be endangered now. Cuban gars being critically endangered.
