What is the meanest african cichlid?? in your opinion??

red zebra, aurutus, kenyi, and believe it or not i have a terrible little yellow lab who doesn't take BS from no one so im going to put electric yellow here.


btw i've had a few jewel cichlids before and non of them were very aggressive.

As far as fish I have kept my Tropheus have the highest level of conspecific aggression, but as for just being outright killers I would say Nyererei are the most aggressive African cichlid I have kept. Anything I have ever put with the Nyererei (1m3f) was killed and eaten.

I've got to go with Red Zebra. Had a pair and they killed my Red Top Ice Blues. Harrassed them and nipped them to death no matter what I tried. Funny though, I had Yellow labs in there and the Zebras didn't touch them at all.

the most non aggressive is the california budfish...it just sits on the couch staring at it's giant fishtank.

The worst fish i have had was a Zebra Obliquiden i had him in my 55g with a Peacock
Bad idea .

My Nimbochromis Livingstonii could go heads up with Parachromis in the tank so i think its noteworthy.
