What is your favorite? South American, or Central?

CA. I'm currently keeping Meekie's and Sajica's, and I'm getting a new tank soon, so I'll add pair of Vieja's, which are my favorite genus.

I have a 14" male jaguar and hes just a quality fish but then so is my 11" male atabapo red pike. Other favourites are firemeouths

SA, because they tend to be more community friendly. Current fav is my chocolate pair.

SAs- Festae and Umbees
CAs- love the parachromis family, mainly Jags and RTMs. The Amphilophus family is great too, my favorites would be Labiatus, Trimacs and Chanchos. Istlanum and Beani are amazing also. You don’t see much big male Istlanum around.
All time favorite fish tho isn’t from SA or CA. Any guesses?

Yeah, the most intelligent and arguably the most personable fish I ever owned.

South american fish are so unique that i honestly think they are my favorite fish in general

The cool thing about fish from the amazon is that the are so unique, probably after evolving under the tropical foliage for so very long

They fit my water parameters better than the Amazonian SA cichlids.

I like SA species a lot, but Vieja and Parachromis types are my favs.
