where to get 8' x 2' background?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hate my plastic background, it reflects when i take pictures way too much!

I like my blue sheet backround.

If you go with the plastic background film apply it like window tint.

Wet the glass with mild soap and water in a spray bottle
position the plastic film were you want it
wet the outside of the plastic
squegee out the air bubbles, use a credit card or simaler tool while keeping the surface wet, working from the center out

This should last for years. The soap acts as a temorary glue and it can be peeled off and replaced in the same way at any time.
People have used this method with vegetable oil as well but the amount of soap this requires is so minimal it constitutes no real threat.

Tape and silicone never work right, look as good or last long term

hehe I'm sorta in the same bucket night.

I need a 6'X3' background and my tank is already setup about 5-6" away from the wall so I can't think of any other option than to try to slide one in behind the overflow and all the other crap hanging off the back of my tank.

will definitely follow this thread to see what the final verdict is...

Thats a new trick for my repertoire, Thanks for the idea.

Thanks for the idea with the soap and water. I want one of those plastic thin outside rock backgrounds..........so cool

I've thought about wrapping paper.

gotta love black $.44 acrylic walmart paint. Cost me less than $1 to cover the back of my 55g. && it comes in every color you'd ever want.

I personally find all the rock, plant, wood etc pictured backgrounds disrupting and unattractive.

Never a more true word spoken, I agree 110% !! Tacky background is best way to ruin a good tank!

Like the other guys have said, if your on a budget just get some black or blue card (from a regular store local to you) Any sort of art shop or stationary shop...

If you do want a cool background, search google (images) for cool backgrounds, then go to your local printing shop and get it printed out, they'll do it to your exact size/specification and it'll be way cheaper then going to any sort of LFS.

Good luck!
