I'm new to keeping large aggressive fish but in my limited experience my Dovii just destroyed everything. It's a shame he is such a unsocial prick as I would much rather a 220 have more than one fish in it!

Overall i would have to say red devil. I had a 2 incher that ripped the fins off a five inch oscar (I was able to heal up/ save the oscar)! Never seen aggression like that from a fish so small! Now the single most aggressive fish i have ever kept was believe it or not a firemouth cichlid haha. He was in a friend of mines african tank and i got him for nothing, set up a fifty five, and he would not let anything coexist with him! I tried alot of different cichlids including red terror and chipokae, he just would not have it lol. The thing fought like a african mbuna, super quick. I eventually sold him to a guy with a two hundred gallon with a 12 inch jag and some others and this firemouth would take on his jag haha(at about 3 inches long mind you). Def a little psycho!

I'd have to say the Grammodes is by far the most aggressive cichlid I've ever kept. POUND FOR POUND, they are ferocious!

A breeding pair is a nightmare towards other tankmates, even in a 270 gallon. They grow extremely slow unfortunately, but maybe that's a good thing?

But if we're talking about what fish will get the job done.. I'd give it to the Dovii. While jags, Haitensis, beani, butti, and red devil are right behind it.

By far the Red Devil. Last one I had was about 7" long. I had a turtle and other cichlids in the tank with him. Other fish did alright with him as he spread the aggression out over all the fish. But he in particularly hated the turtle. Once the devil grew big and strong enough to over power the turtle it was over. He ripped that guy to nothing and forced it out of the tank. Found it the next morning on the floor. Measest fish I've seen.

I have a 9" male JD who'm I rescued a couple years ago. Im thinking it was wild caught maybe. I haven't kept anything with it successfully. Large 14" oscars, small school of red bellies, other JDs, plecos, quetzel cichlids, black belts, walking cats, bichirs. He tortures everything. I remove it all before its too late. Only thing hes ever killed was a baby RTC which seemed fine but when I woke it was dead. Everything else was removed within 10 minutes. Hes bad. Sits in a 77g by himself hating the world. Put a larger pleco in there this evening to try. Not sure what will happen.

I'd have to say dovii or umbee, although if you get a breeding pair of convicts they can take down a full grown oscar. So for scale size i'd say convict. (Imagine if they grew half the size of umbee or dovii)

I would have to say Dovii or Umbee both get 2ft plus, there are plenty of cichlids that can compete with them up to 16in but after that they take over
