FYI ...... Prazipro pretty much just treats flatworms, tapeworms, and flukes. Good luck with the rest of the parasites and pathogens that feeders can introduce to a closed system. If you aren't raising your own, you're rolling the dice every time that you offer feeders to your fish.

You're right on there. Eventually my goal will be to raise feeders and or live worms. I'm playing Russian roulette right now with what I'm doing. Essentially it comes down to the fishes immune systems.

I used to to treat my minnows with Coppersafe or Cupramine,Ithink it was called. It's been a while but I have since found that feeders are more trouble than they are worth.

Goldfish are horrid feeders , but the following can be raised and bredas greatfeeders:
Crickets
Grasshoppers.
Livebearers.
Earthworms.
Mealworms.
Triops.
Cherry red shrimp.

I didn’t have a problem raising any of my fish from fingerlings without feeding live. Infact I haven’t fed any live to my fish. There’s plenty of better choices out there. Bloodworms tilapia shrimp pellets are all much better and very do able to transition from blood worms to pellets with some trial and error. Also you can bulk them up just as Fast feeding frozen. To run the risk of introducing parasites is just not an opinion for me.

That certainly is a safe bet. I'll be honest I personally enjoyed the feeding to my wolf fish of a feeder for the first time. Watching it hunt was pretty fun. I know it was risky but I'm also happy I fed its predator instincts. At least I minimized the risk by dosing the tank with prazipro and quarantining the feeder fish.

In the end I will not feed feeder fish unless I'm raising them. Not worth the risk of losing a pet over a diseased fish.
