Oscars are friendlier and more personable.

And to all the oscar haters with their "poop machine" comments, they can only crap as much as you feed them, dont blame the fish because the owner cant resist the begging.

I wouldnt say more friendlier or more personable.... they act the same way begg for food and chase you around the tank.

Also not sure if your aware but oscars fare much better in blackwater conditions. Plus they are not the "beginner" fish everyone thinks they are. They are hith prone if not kept in the correct conditions.

I thought it was well known established fact that oscars are the uber cichlid in that regard.

Great fish but not the only one with tons of personality. Imo nothing is gonna atract someone to a tank like a colored up syn (as someone else suggested).

Large tanks + colorful big fish = me wanted a seat in the waiting room near the tank.

7ft tank would look impressive with a pearsei/bocourti, syn, regani maybe a heterospilus and a fancy type of pleco

Or a pair of argentea

jaws7777, I agree with you, it is not about picking a favorite fish/cichlid...
