OH Yea!! My wife gets scared when I get going. Talked about a Motoro ray, but she put a halt on the 12x6 tank that it would take to house it full grown. :SIGH:

Oh well gotta start small, and work up. Now my friend knows next time he gets another tank dropped off. Seems to happen every so often.

Checked into using the potable water epoxy offered by sherwin williams asked about using either their Macropoxy 646PW for 846PW.

This is what I got back from them;

Thank you for taking the time to contact Sherwin Williams. I wouldn't suggest using any of them. The Macropoxy 846 should be used in tanks of 1500 gallons or greater and Duraplate 235 NSF is for tanks 60,000 gallons or greater. If used in a tank this small it would exceed the parts per million permitted in potable water.
The other problem is we offer no immersion rated products for wood. This substrate expands and contracts too much and could result in adhesion loss.

I'm sorry I couldn't help.

Regards,

Greg

Bummer no work on the tank this weekend. Lots going on and this weather we are having I have a killer cold. Oh well. Did set up a 30 gallon tank for my niece though. Got it from a friend with fish. After 2 hours of cleaning looks great. Get ths it came with 6 Tetras, 2 mollies, and 1 11" common Pleco. Will post a pic as soon as my niece emails it to me. So she kept the Pleco, I got the tetras, and mollies for my 20H. Now here is the real kicker, after I told her several times not to get any fish that would grow over 4" she puts in 2 Oscars (A tiger and an albino) and 1 Convict. Guess I am gonna be setting up another tank this year. Knew I should have gone with her.

Cheers, hope to post updates later this week.

Dont know where she got them.. at least I hope it was petsmart so she got quality fish. Gonna be like you soon fishguy, only I keep adopting fish from friends and family. Oh well at least they will have a good home, and I may be able to justify my own 1500 gallon monster :nilly:  LOL

As I have said I am doing an over tank filter. I had an idea when I saw a thread over in setup/filtration. Rather than building a wood filter to go on top of the tank how about 2 or 3 10 gallon tanks or rubbermaid tubs?

Input would be by pump/spray bar, and would discharge by drilling the bottom or side.

First question is would this be enough bio media?

Mechanical would be on top of the bio media.

Pic (sorry for cheesy paint I am at work)

Thoughts please..

I have been doing some research on overhead filters myself and it seems to me that the pro's defenately outway the cons.
I will be getting a 560gal tank next weekend and plan on putting three overhead filters on it using 45gal rubbermaid containers.
as far as how much bio is enough, i have never been given a straight answer on that so i try to stick to 2 to 3 scrubbies per gallon but i am deffinatelly not a pro on the subject.
