I have been building sand filters to add more filtration to the pond. The filters have the water come from the bottom to a swirler and then go up. I cut the tops off of all three and drilled lots of holed in the top. I then forced the tops down into the bottom on top of the pvc stands to make a barrier for the rock and sand to sit on. I have two pool pumps I am going to use, one for pushing water to the filters and one going back to the pond. I built a water catch area after the filters drain through and then the pump will move it back to the pond. The little area coming around the side is only about a foot deep and I was going to plant cat tails there so that they will grow big and tall and block the view of the white sand filters. I also may spray paint them to help them blend better. Its still a work in progress, I have to have a friend who is an electrician come out and wire the pumps up because they are not just the plug in style.

Thanks guys. At this moment its at a stand still. I was going to try and get some pipe laid this morning but this thunderstorm here caught me off guard. I do have them full of sand and rock though.

Yeah but I only have one air pump to do it with so what i decided is that I will hook it up to the bottom drain on each one when I want to clean it. That way the bubbles will churn everything as they make their way up. I might drill separate holes in the top to drain the crap but I havent decided yet. They are still a work in progress. lol
