Based on the eventual size of the mundi and the nile perch they could even end up being a problem in one of the big tanks if they got big enough... I've heard a full grown barramundi can eat a full grown arowana! How big was the alleged tiger ray at the time of his death? By the way you should definitely grow out a shoal of armatus
Ryan, yes that is a Vittatus.
The tiger fish and the goliath tiger fish are actually very similar in general. The Goliath is said to grow of course the largest but Oliver Lucanus has told me that when he fishes for them the largest are both around 4 feet.
Many hobbysits actually prefer the vittatus because it is a more attractive fish.
I have three vittatus and one goliath. All three vittatus bullied the goliath (only one inch difference in size) when I had them together. Now I keep all 4 of them in separate tanks after the alpha vittatus damaged the eye of the #2 vittatus and all three chopped a bit of the caudal fin off my wimpy goliath (It healed with no scar). They are still small 6 1/2" to 7 1/2" and grow very slowly for me. I always amazed when hobbyists on this site tell how theirs grow 1 inch a week.

However they seldom actually get as large as the 8 foot length that largest might have achieved.
In a tank like mine I would only expect them to get about 3 to 4 feet assuming I was growing up one that I got as a juvenile under 12" to start with.
I have watched documentaries of catching Nile perch in Lake Victoria and even the fisherman are happy when they actually get a four foot plus (122cm +) Nile perch in their nets.
The alleged tiger was only 19" (48cm) when it died.
The armatus are nice but I am happy with the fish I have now in the tank.

ATFs and GATFs should grow pretty slow, though they grow to be monster when grown.
Interesting that the african tiger could grow so large, 4 feet is huge! I kind of agree the vittatus is more attractive. But goliaths amazing fish as well.
Is your female wallago leeri still growing and what is her size? How is the male? Does the female still dominate the tank?

Oliver is the only one who has mentioned the 4 foot size to me but he knows his fish and never has a need to exaggerate, So I believe him.
Next time I talk with Heiko I will ask him what sizes he has seen of both.
The big fish are probably still growing but it is at such a slow rate that I don't notice. The female Wallgo leerii is still the alpha but the male will fight back at times and leave huge gashes on her also. The Arapaima is no match for either.
One fish that might really surprise everyone with it's bullying habits is the Auchenoglanis biscutatus. It is somewhere between 28 and 30" (71 to 76cm).
It chases the Oxydoras nigers, Pterodoras granulosus and even the 2 smaller Phractocephalus hemioliopterus.
The picture is when he was in the 15k and probably around the 26" mark.

My tank will be 6 meters by 3 by 2, not as big as yours but I can still say a monster. I am only making it really for an Arapaima but I will also keep Wallago, Nile Perch, RTC and other giants for the beast to have some company hehe Hopefully in a few years you'll see a post of it somewhere here. hehe

Wow... amazing Auchenoglanis biscutatus...really cool. Some sources say it can get to 40", I hope yours can go that length and maybe even beyond.

Btw, is your nasty Black shark still alive? I have read you keep it in the ponds in the summer. Does it bother fish in the ponds, or is it kept alone?
