Harley did you use the bottom lattice screen?
Of course ... that's what it's for. It allows for even flow thru the media and prevents clogging of the intake.

anyone be able to help with how much this is in litres to buy?
2" of EhfiMech is 5L; 2" of Ehfifix is possibly 3L, as it will compress a bit and 6" of Ehfi substrat pro is 15L. These are the basic media recommendations for the 2260/2262 filter.

The lattice screen is about 11.25" in diameter so I usually cut my sponges to 11.5" to allow a snug fit. The canister body is slightly tapered so it is a bit narrower at the bottom than at the top.

So, can you change the pump to any pump you like or must the eheim pump be used? so much power draw!!!

The intake being on the bottom means if I placed the 2260 on the floor next to a 2ft tall tank sitting 2.5ft high off the ground I would be able to start the siphon in your opinion?

Thanks guys.

You could probably use a non-Eheim pump as long as you were able to come up with a way of modifying the output fitting on the canister lid or making an adapter to transition to your pump choice. Eheim fittings use a BSPP-G thread, not NPT.

The 2260 needs a minimum of 26.375 inches from the water surface to the filter base to prime properly so you should be fine at 4.5 foot, as long as the water level was at the rim of the tank.

Just got mine last week but not setting up till I move in a month. This is a great thread! Now, I am worried this is too much filter for my 150 tall. I was going to have a single Fahaka puffer in it. Should I throttle it back? Use it somewhere else and put my FX5 on it? I am afraid to use the FX5 on this because I will be using sand. What do the experts think?

Thanks deeda, Sadly the surface of the tank is about 2.5 ft (not 4.5 ft sorry my mistake with the explanation) I should still be fine hopefully! Now I just need to find someone selling 2 without pumps =)
