Thanks guys.

I am kind of concerned with the size differences between the biggest ocel and the kel. It’s roughly a third of the size. I found that in the initial grow out tank it was getting out competed for food by the blood parrots it was with. So I figured it would be better to have it in the bigger tank to hopefully grow faster. It’s appetite hasn’t changed much, but it seems much happier and has coloured in a fair bit since moving upstairs.

So far the alpha has been kind to the small one. He has shown mild dominance toward it but not overbearing aggression. It has been quite aggressive toward the mid sized one but it is big enough that it can take the fight.

I feel as if trauma has slowed or even stunted the smaller 2 growth rate. One was inside the oscars mouth and must have escaped while the Oscar spit it out to play with its food, right after its other sibling was eaten. And the smallest one is the last of 3 kels that the other 2 were eaten by either the bichir or a catfish?? I say this because they were all picked up around the same time and such a huge contrast in growth rate.

This is what my tank looked like in the morning.......

And this is what it looks like now.

I am getting ready for a Ray pup, so I pulled a bunch of wood, rocks and fake plants out to make more floor space and still keep it looking good. I replaced fake plants with live since the new light. Picked up some swords from a fish club member.

I also hooked up my wave makers on the right hand side of the tank since both of my current intakes are on the left side of tank. All the fish are super happy right now, even with less hiding spots they are all seeming super confident and strong.

So my wife plays with our cats each night with different toys to excercise the little demons lol. Then a few nights ago she got a little close to my tank and the bass love to also chase the cat toy with intense ferocity. Imagine a cat chasing the laser pointer but the fish chasing the cat toy. I always feel bad for the bass after she does it so I will give them some food or a treat because they will never get the thing.

Quite entertaining, I’d encourage others with chichlas to try it. Maybe it works for other bass as well. Let me know if you try it and if it works or not.

Thanks guys. Yes I am already seeing the addiction becoming a problem cigars cigars .

I went from ok let’s get a pup to learn about how to raise a ray to, hmm if I get a female too then In about 2-3 years when I am ready to breed them they will be ready too... I will need 3-4 large tanks if I plan to breed, because you need to be able to separate the adults if they cause issues with each other down the road. Also you don’t want your female to be knocked up more than 3 times in a row....

So needless to say I am already saving money for more bigger tanks and looking for new ways to acquire more money to invest into the fish room. Lol. Might be cheaper if I just get into coke
