I've always loved archer fish and this setup would be great for them!! Sadly, my stock are South American and I'd want to stick to this Sorta-fish-biotope. (Though I appreciate the plants are not SA).do toxates, the freshwater archer

Great, I'll look into these. Anyone had experience of black widow / black skirt tetra and their true size? Internet says different things about size but thought these would compliment the silver dollars well?Im not to good on the SA, CA, so if these are not SA but are CA sorry. Diamond, bleeding heart, Columbian, Buenos Aires, maybe Phoenix or pristella when full grown.....
Good choice. One of my favorites in a sa tank. Good looking fish with the red and blue! Thanks for the suggestions! Leporinus fasciatus are gorgeous but too big for this setup imo.
I've settled on some red columbian tetra after much research. 7 are acclimatising as I type this. Thought they'll grow to a decent size (hopefully near 3") and their colouration compliments the SDs well.
Bit worried about the pictus picking them off whilst they're small. But if they survive I'll buy another 6 or 7.
Once the setup establishing some more I'll think about adding a whiptail too!
Very happy with the choice too. How they look in the lfs is nothing like how they colour up once settled it. I just can't wait for them to get bigger.Good choice. One of my favorites in a sa tank. Good looking fish with the red and blue!
