Sounds like a good mix!

Do you have any flashguns/speed lights? Those are hands down the best way to get good photos of fish

Flint town!
Most tanks "with" polys eventually become poly dominant tanks. Lol

I use my phone for pics and vids.

I used to have a cheap Kodak that took really nice pics when I had my reef. Everyone was always asking what camera, what settings, what backlight, how'd you do that, lol I just put it on auto and took pics of what I though looked nice in the tank.

I bought an expensive cannon just before I quit salt and it was like pulling teeth to get a decent pic out of it.

I do not, my Camera / video phone was shot on my iPhone... wife’s like - let’s get a camera... think she wanted it...cant say much after all my tanks n fish...

I know very little about this DSLR I think it is, taking a brief class and going to start using it more.

good pointer on the flash!

It's easier to get decent photos on a phone camera due to the lower light requirements but it is significantly easier to take great photos with a DSLR and the right lighting, you can get higher aperture, lower ISO and stupid fast shutter speeds when using external lights :)

Nice tank and really cool stock. Why do you want to get rid of the ornate bichir ?

One thing i would consider is feedings. Captive bred polys have very different appetites than their wc counterparts. For some reason they will gorge themselves, wc ime dont do this to the same extent. About two yrs ago i stopped feeding pellets as a staple and leaned more towards fresh and frozen fish mixed in some chopped smelts as well. I still feed pellets but probably only once a week. Polys are more active and hardly ever have that bloated look to them.

As they grow the drift wood may become a problem. Nothing to be concerned with yet.

I have a different take than most on poly predation.... its blown out of proportion. Ive never had one eat a tank mate. It doesnt mean it can happen though. You might get lucky and have the same experience as I had

Not looking to get rid of the ornate Bichir, think another member was wanting an ornate catfish like the one I have in there.

I’m doing about 1/3 massivore 2/3 shrimp and tilapia for the Afer, have not seen it go for a pellet yet...

good tip on the wood, this tanks probably not big enough for their final resting spot.

what do you think will happen with the wood?

Hey man dont take anything we say for 100% gospel with these fish. 2 things with the wood...actually 3. 1) as they grow and establish a hierarchy some may claim areas around the wood can lead to minor aggression but this really isnt a big deal bichir aggression is nothing when compared to cichlids or aros. 2) when they put on some size they can injure themselves on the wood. Especially when they go into their idiotic frenzy when they get spooked. Some lower jaw keepers tend to keep the bottoms on the bare side. You can get creative and go with taller pieces of wood that leave less of a footprint on the substrate. Again no reason to make any changes now but something to keep in mind if you ever notice injuries to their heads or snouts. 3) 1 and 2 dont happen and alls good in the hood lol.

Your tank will be fine for them for a looong time. These guys slow down allot after a certain size. Usually around the 12 inch mark. Even then they arent incredibly active.

You could also soak their tilapia in boyds vitachem. They're funny with pellets. Once one starts eating them they all follow. Learned behavior ? Mhh who knows.

I had one rare stubborn fish that refused to eat pellets. Starve her for almost 2 months and wouldnt budge. 3 yrs later out of the blue she started taking pellets. Lol go figure
