The wood beams are 2x4s, which are really 1.5"x3.5". In centimeters that would be 3.81cm x 8.89cm
There is no glass cover, we are still in the process of installing the water change system but there will be an automatic top off to deal with evaporation, and a exhaust fan is installed directly above the pond to deal with humidity.

Thank you. I did not know what does the abbreviation "s ". Thank you! Unless you have a glass cover, quickly evaporated water. Or evaporated water absorb the automated system and then returns to the filter?
Evaporated water will be removed by exhaust fan. A water top off system will automatically add fresh water when the water level drops from the evaporation.
The only problem with large amounts of evaporation is that only pure water evaporates thus leaving all the waste behind, this leads to water that hardens in value and builds up dissolved organics etc.
I make this point for clarity of others reading as many people do not perform water changes and just top off....I am sure this is not the case with the op but on a 50 gal tank this could be a problem.
I imagine on this tank that there will be big, proper, water changes too.

Completely agree, planning on doing a 30% water change every 2-4 days depending on the parameters.

They are not treated or sealed, if water does start to cause them to rott they will be replaced with treated ones. They where put on as a precaution before filling, but based on the fact that we heard no creaking and there doesn't appear to be any tension on the beams at all I don't think we actually need them, but it will give us a place to hang lights from.
