the fish issues haven't really been my fault, as none of it is maintenance related and the setup in terms of hardware is exactly how I hoped it would be. well made tank, good equipment etc. of course, it came with a price..lol. this is a $2000 setup (before taxes:eek:)..but worth every penny IMO
Happy New Year 12volts. May the new year bring you more happiness energy and bump you to 120volts.:D You tell most hobbyists you spent $2000 on a setup and they'll have a heart attack. Funny thing is most salt aquarists think $2000 is normal cuz salt is way more expensive. I know how you feel cuz I spent $1350 for my acrylic tank ONLY but mainly because I wanted the rounded corners which ran up the bill.:headbang2

so would mom and dad hahaha.

when I was first telling them about this planned setup they were like "so how much is it?"

I'm like - about $600.

they are like 'wow, thats not that bad"

and I say "..for the tank alone...lol -well, tank + tax + delivery fee"

happy new year to you and your family as well!

We have another thing in common. I don't tell my family the actual price of my setup. I just tell them $500 for everything but they think I'm full of it.:D They think I put a few thousands in fish.

$2K:nilly:

im diving into the hobby and i would hate to add up the total cost for my setup, lol
Make friends in your area so you can get deals. I think TCarswell is from Elk Grove, CA too.

tank update: picked up 8 very small tinfoils yesterday. the only reason I got them this small was they are the same colourful species I used to have with the black on the dorsal. for the last 2 months or so I have been combing all the LFS's in the area for nice fish, but nothing really good.

don't get me wrong - they have nice fish in stock

but not really fish that fit my 150g eg. lots of beautiful angels, discus, etc etc.

I want this tank to be for active fish. when I setup the tank underneath my 65g, then I will put more stationary-hey-I-look-pretty fish.

now, I am pretty sure these tinfoils were from the same LFS as the last ones, but they may not be from the same supplier etc.

hopefully these ones are healthy and I will be closely watching for signs of tummy trouble lol.

I went with barbs again because I really loved the look that my other ones had. they looked fantastic in this tank.

Hopefully, I can have better luck this time. keep your fingers crossed LOL
