Now that you mentioned the red thing, mines are true red tinfoils (twinbar with the black on the fins). I've noticed the last month that when the lights out they are deep deep red and brilliant black, and the lights come on and this is the case for about 10 mins then they look very faded and stay this way until the light goes off, repeats every day. My light is only x2 30 watts and its probably less bright than your aquarium by a slight amount. I don't get it...

fish do tend to darken up when the lights are off, so that is normal. as your fish grow, they will colour up quickly. don't worry. I can't wait to get my new reds in the mix in the 150g.
this time, the angels layed eggs on the Aquaclear intake.

yes they should colour up more. the first batch of red tinfoil barbs in this tank were the most colourfull I have ever seen. its too bad they were all so sick 
update: the clowns will have to be removed from my planted tank as they are eating my plants. since I put them in, the val has big holes in the leaves, even the new leaves coming up. even the ludwigia is chewed..
lemon fin growth update. from Februrary 2d to March 27th 2010
the first pic is when they were in the quaretine tank the day I got them, the second two pics taken today.
I will post pics of the new red tinfoils and the other small lemon fin when they are in the 150g next week, as at my next water change I am going to put them over. the sooner the better I think.
