http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179928 This build is awesome and has me pondering using a pond liner instead of fiber/gelcoat. One guy in there suggests gluing pond liner to each piece of plywood before attaching it. Then just siliconing where the ply comes together. I'm going to price out some pond liner, and try to figure out in my brain weather or not this could actually be done in my build.

Seriously I know... I'm even more impressed that it was a woman that did that build :WHOA:... I've heard the thought of glueing liner to each wall then siliconing the seems... but I'm not sure of the long term durability of that... The Silicone is actually being used as a gasket (and in a creative way at that) I think I have a way to "Improve" on that design which should work out... (I sence a Mad scientist weekend coming up :naughty:)

The only thing that has ever stopped a Pond Liner tank was that Windows would be Really hard to get done right and it would be the "weak" point in the tank....I've just however had like the best thought on how to correct any issues with that... God I love this Idea and don't know why I never thought of it before :D

Sounds like its going to be an awsome tank, The rtc is an awsome fish which gets to good size very quick. I want to build up to rtc's eventually. Great work.

Thanks for the insight. Not going to share anything about what you're thinking on the weak points? I'm gonna go work on my tank some now. I'm motivated. Found some 30'x30' pond liner for $300 btw. I can cut that into sections and still have plenty left. I'm not so sure that silicone will actually stick to pond liner. As in someone needs to do a peel test of different silicones on pond liners!;)

In that case just seal up your nice heated garage first that way if you fail you can just have a head start on filling your garage.:headbang2
